Carbon Calculator

The carbon calculator allows you to determine carbon dioxide emissions from major sources: home energy consumption and transportation by car and plane.

 >> You will first need to enter the distance you travel by car, bus, train and airplane, or the quantity of fuel used in your travels

What is Carbon Neutrality?

The average North American produces over 22 metric tons (24.25 US short tons) of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) each year just living a normal life; driving their car, running their home air conditioning or heater, using their frequent flyer miles or just sitting and watching television. Most forms of energy we use produce CO2 gas, the culprit that is contributing the global warming.

In order to be carbon neutral, you as an individual must calculate the amount of CO2 you produce each year and offset that in some way.

Final Report

Thanks to the funding provided by Merck Sharp & Dome, the Tropical Sierra Foundation was able to work with 40 children from ten different schools of San Rafael de Heredia, in Costa Rica.

These children came two Saturdays a month for almost a year, raising awareness and environmental education in Monte de la Cruz, Future Environmental Education Center of the community.
